Chronic toxicity and oncogenicity were evaluated in Fischer 344 albino rats (70 rats/sex/dose group) exposed to methyl methacrylate at vapor concentrations of 0, 25, 100, or 400 ppm, 6 hours/day, 5 days/week for 2 years. This interim report contains observations on 50 rats/sex/dose group after 72 weeks of treatment. There was a slight increase in mortality rate in females at all dose levels, a dose-dependent decrease in body weight gain in females, and a decrease in body weight gain in high-dose males (statistical analysis not reported). Treatment had no adverse effects with respect to hematology. No further information was available regarding experimental results in this interim report at 72 weeks.
