Finite Element Analysis of a Darcy Velocimeter in a Variably Saturated Soil.

A new device, the Darcy velocimeter, is analyzed by the finite element method. The model is of two-phase flow and heat transport in a porous medium. Both laboratory-and field-scale experiments are simulated. The results show that the device should readily detect groundwater fluxes in the 10 to 100 m/yr range. (ERA citation 14:023037)
