A variety of 11C-labeling methodologies and handling techniques were developed including reductive sup 11 C-methylation (10) captive solvent methylations (22), improved solid phase method for conversion of sup 11 C-MeOH to - sup 11 CH sub 3 I(2) a simple colorometric assay for CH sub 3 I (1) and small faster devices for remote PET radiolabeling (3). Development of a reliable all-silver pressurized water target for production of very large quantities of reactive ( sup 18 F)fluoride (9). Pressurization of the target with hydrogen during irradiation prevent boiling and losses due to radiolysis and allows very efficient sup 18 F production that is proportional with beam current up to at least 35 mu A. More recently this same target system has been used to produce sup 13 NH sub 3 directly in-target in very good yields (19). 35 refs. (ERA citation 14:020651)
