Choice of momentum compaction factor for the APIARY low-energy ring.

For the new low-energy ring of the APIARY B factory collider, there are several considerations that go into the choice of momentum compaction factor. In this note we enumerate these considerations and indicate the restrictions on momentum compaction factor that arise therefrom. Probably the most difficult condition to achieve is maintaining the same betatron tune modulation at the IP as occurs for the high-energy ring. Generally, however, we find that the constraints are rather loose, so the ring design is not heavily influenced. 5 refs. (ERA citation 16:001039)
