Comparison of medical isotope production in fast and thermal reactor systems.

摘要

Nuclear reactors represent a very important past and future source of isotopes for numerous medical applications. Production of these isotopes can be made efficiently in either fast or thermal reactor systems. In this paper, analyses and results are presented that compare production quality and quantity of ''medical isotopes'' for the two reactor system types. This involves determining the specific activity levels of the primary product isotope, as well as calculating the production of unwanted impurities. 6 refs., 7 figs., 4 tabs.
