Hierarchical controlled component synthesis of large space structures.

This paper describes a new framework called Controlled Component Synthesis for the design of multi-level decentralized for large flexible structures. In contrast to the existing decentralized control approach in which the design begins with a given dynamic model of the flexible structure, controlled components are built and assembled into a controlled flexible structure that meets performance specifications. A simple truss structural control problem is employed to illustrate the design procedures, as well as demonstrate the potentials of the developed method for controlling very large dimensional truss structures. 15 refs., 9 figs.
