Coming Nuclear Renaissance for Next Generation Safeguards Specialists-Maximizing Potential and Minimizing the Risks

The Coming Nuclear Renaissance for the Next Generation Safeguards Experts-- Maximizing Benefits While Minimizing Proliferation Risks, was held at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from December 15-18, 2008. Workshop objectives were to: (1) engage participants in the area of nuclear nonproliferation by introducing them to next generation safeguards initiatives; (2) discuss nonproliferation aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle; (3) discuss domestic and international legal requirements and provide tours of operations areas; and (4) work with participants to identify curriculum and training opportunities to prepare for the next generation of safeguards experts.
