Beam dynamics and rf evolution in a multistage klystron-like free- electron laser

Current understandings of beam dynamics and RF evolution in a klystron-like free-electron laser are present. Phase sensitiveness to injection jitters estimated by existing two theories is discussed. BBU suppression due to linear detuning is proposed. 13 refs., 2 figs., 1 tab.
