U.S. Department of Energy Orders with the Potential to Inhibit Environmental Remediation Activities at DOE

This report examines whether any existing U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Orders are unnecessarily inhibiting the environmental remediation process at DOE sites. Six Orders are identified with potentially inhibiting impacts. The discussion for each Order includes a description of the Order, concerns about the Order raised by DOE field personnel and contractor employees, a discussion of the issues raised, and possible approaches to address concerns raised about the Order. Four recommendations are included are included in the report.
