摘要

The Royal Netherlands Air Force has commissioned TNO Human Factors ResearchInstitute (TNO HFRI) to conduct a study into the innovation of the training of the F-16 engine maintenance technicians. A first analysis (Schaafstal Van Berlo, 1996) disclosed an important problem: an inadequate attunement between the contents of the training course, as provided by the Air Force Electronics and Technical School, and the skills actually required by the different Air Force bases and squadrons. In order to tackle the identified problems, the tasks of the F-16 engine maintenance technicians are subjected to a thorough analysis. The methods and results of the task analysis are reported. For each work site, structured task descriptions have been developed by using information provided by instructors of the LETS, technicians on the various bases, and the available documentation. The tasks have been decomposed on a level of detail that allows the specification of learning objectives. For all work sites, the equipment has been inventoried. Results have been subjected to verification by each of the work sites through interviews and check lists. The original task descriptions appeared to fit the situation at the bases fairly good. Only minor adjustments were necessary. One of the important findings is that the task definition of a technician in a certain work site differ among the various bases. This lack of conformity with respect to task description may have repercussions for successful differentiation of instruction.
