Creating a 4-D Integrated Scenario Near Camp Pendleton, CA

A 4-D integrated synthetic scenario is being created to test the prototype MasterEnvironmental Library (MEL) architecture. The target area is the littoral zone centered near Camp Pendleton, CA. Two scenario periods will be identified, a winter scenario (January 8-14, 1995) in which winter storms affected the SW U.S. and a summer scenario, most likely in the July or August 1995 timeframe which could include the effects of the Southwest monsoon. Operational atmospheric and oceanographic models will be augmented with additional models run at much higher (5-10 km) resolutions. The COAMPS non-hydrostatic mesoscale model will be used to drive the high resolution oceanographic (PWC, ADClRC, WAM) and atmospheric models.
