Flight and Ground Testing of New Flight Control Software for the F/A-18 Hornet

Our briefing will cover the: (1) F/A-18 Aircraft; (2) An overview of the Hornet'sFlight Control System; (3) A brief synopsis of selected flight controls system related mishaps; (4) Our testing of the software, or 'Operational Flight Program' which in a highly augmented, fly-by-wire aircraft constitutes a new flight control system; and (5) Results and Conclusions. And a brief overview of lessons learned.
