This report provides a summary of research performed by the University ofMaryland, College Park, under contract no. DAAH-O4-95-00O4. Through the contractural agreement, a commercial thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) elastomer was modified using radiation treatment and evaluated for edge-abrasion resistance. Treated and untreated TPU were also submitted for chemical agent testing. Although the modification did not result in improved chemical agent resistance, mass loss due to edge abrasion was decreased by a factor of two. The edge-abrasion test apparatus and chemical agent tests are discussed.
