In 1997 the Naval Air Systems Command F/A-18 Flight Control Team was tasked with redesigning the Flight Control Computer's processor card. This was mainly due to parts obsolescence. The old processor incorporated mid-SOs technology. The processor card contract was awarded to the current computer manufacturer.
