Seanet Remote Wireless Internet Project Management Plan

摘要

Ubiquitous computing, the ability to use computer resources anywhere and atanytime to accomplish tasks, is a capability that is in much demand. The Internet has provided an opportunity to meet this demand. However, access to the Internet is limited by connections to land based wired systems. In order to truly achieve effective ubiquitous computing, technology must be developed that extends internet access to remote and mobile platforms by using wireless access. The SEANET is a proof of concept collaborative project seeking to extend Internet access to the sea for the Oceanographic Research Fleet. This thesis studies how the Internet evolved to draw lessons learned that can be applied to the development of SEANET. It also presents a possible method for more effectively meeting the SEANET goals through use of a Project Management Plan.
