Primary Care Demonstration Project: Measurement of Provider Practice Styles andClient Outcomes

This multicenter study of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physicianassistants used a prospective, longitudinal, correlational design to evaluate change in client outcomes as a function of provider practice styles, client and provider demographics, and clinic characteristics. Three sites participated in the study: Fort Belvoir, VA; Fort Bragg, NC; and Fort Lewis, WA. Nine primary care clinics (three from each site) were enrolled in the study. Providers completed a demographics questionnaire and six practice style questionnaires that measured their practice model, confidence, autonomy, collaboration practices, attitudes towards giving information, and job satisfaction.
