Environmental Assessment: MWR Marina Renovation at Seaplane Base, NASWI

The Department of the Navy (Navy) has prepared this Environmental Assessment (EA)to evaluate the potential environmental effects associated with the renovation of the existing Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Department Marina at Seaplane Base, Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island (NASWI), Island County, Washington. Renovation would include demolition of an old, 'L'-shaped, wooden boat house (Building 19) at the MWR Marina in Crescent Harbor. In its place, the Navy would develop an expanded uncovered marina capable of serving 60 boats. Principal areas of concern addressed in this EA include potential effects to historical resources, water quality, and wildlife and fishery resources. Based on the analysis in this EA, a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) is recommended and the preparation of an Environmental Impact Study (EIS) is not required.
