摘要

To verify seismological inferences about the Earth, matching observed seismogramsan ultimate task for modern seismology. After the success in modeling long-period seismograms and routinely estimating earthquake mechanisms in the early 80s, seismologists are now challenged to model entire regional seismograms at the high frequencies. In this study, two different methods will be used to model the surface-wave waveform. The ultimate purpose of this type of research is to quantify the limitations of one-dimensional earth models as an initial step in approximating 3-D structures.
