This work covers the quantitative analysis of residual ethyl-S-2- diisopropylaminoethyl methylphosphonothioate (VX, CAS No. 50782-69-0) in reaction masses produced by the reaction of VX with monoethanolamine:water:sodium hydroxide (MEA, CAS No. 00141-43-5:H2O, CAS No. 07732-18-5:NaOH, CAS No. 01310-73-2) and MEA:K-MEA reagent solutions. Quantitation is accomplished using GC/MSD in selected ion mode (SIM) with external standard calibration. In addition, GC/IRD/MSD was used to provide qualitative data on other components contained in the reaction mass samples. Peak identity was confirmed using external standards and/or spectral interpretation of GC/IRD/MSD data.
