摘要

RFR is an acronym for radiofrequency radiation, which refers to the emission and propagation of electromagnetic waves in the frequency range nominally from 3 kHz to 300 GHz. Such waves are characterized as nonionizing radiation because the intrinsic (quantum) electromagnetic energy absorbed by a body at any frequency within this range is much too low to ionize (eject electrons) from molecules of the body. Equivalent terms in the literature on RFR bioeffects include electromagnetic radiation (EMR), nonionizing radiation (NIR), nonionizing radiofrequency electromagnetic (RFEM) fields, and electromagnetic fields (EMF). It should be noted, however, that the acronym 'EMF' has lately become associated primarily with possible bioeffects of 50-Hz and 60-Hz electric and magnetic fields from powerlines.
