摘要

This report presents signature measurements of four high-velocity sled impacts performed during the 1997 PAC-3 trials held at Holloman Air Force Base Sled Track Facility. The events consisted of a high explosive warhead on 15 July and three simulated biological warheads on 30 July, 20 August, and 24 September 1997. The first two events were successful momentum couplings, while the last two events were considered failures because the sled malfunctioned and incomplete strikes (or even complete misses) of the target occurred. Data were collected with the following sensors: two ultraviolet (UV) radiometers (250 to 280 nm), one UV spectrometer (300 to 400 nm), one visible spectrometer (400 to 1100 nm), a two-channel visible radiometer, two mid-infrared (IR) Fourier transform spectrometers (FTS) operating in the 2.0 to 5.4 micron bandwidth, one mid-IR radiometer (3.0 to 5.0 micron), one far-IR FTS (8.0 to 12.0 micron), and mid-IR (3.0 to 5.0 micron) and far-IR (8.0 to 12.0 micron) imagers. The sensors were calibrated and characterized to the Joint Tactical Missile Signature (JTAMS) standards. Elemental lines of the impact cloud were determined with the UV and visible spectrometers. The actual temperature and complete graybody radiation of the impact cloud were measured with the visible spectrometer. The actual temperature of the debris cloud was measured with the mid-IR and far-IR spectrometers. The presence of biological products was determined with the mid- IR spectrometer during the deflagration of the simulant on 30 July, and the presence of this simulant was probably measured as absorption spectroscopy on 24 August.
