Analysis of Freshwater Mussels (Unionidae) in the Upper Ohio River near Huntington, West Virginia, 1998 Studies

The purpose of this study was to characterize important biotic variables (mussel density, evidence of recent recruitment, community structure, and spatial distribution) of mussel beds downriver of the Robert Byrd Lock and Dam in the Ohio River, West Virginia. Results will be used to evaluate effects of water resource developments on freshwater mussels. In addition, data wifl be used to assess effects of the exotic zebra mussel (Dreissena polymoipha) on native freshwater mussels.
