The Lockheed Martin Corporation comprises all or portions of 17 heritage companies, including those of aviation pioneers Glenn L. Martin and the Loughead SIC brothers. Although its founders were dreamers, they could never have imagined the extent to which their company would actually contribute to shaping the future. Lockheed Martin's pioneering efforts created a legacy of excellence and innovation. Continuing in this tradition, the corporation is striving to strengthen its competitiveness and advance its high standard of performance and dependability. Today, Lockheed Martin is engaged in the conception, research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and operation of advanced technology systems, products, and services. The corporation serves customers in both domestic and international defense and commercial markets, with its principal customers being agencies of the U.S. Government.
