摘要

The Anthropometric Measuring System (AMS) is a mechanical and electronic hardware and software system for obtaining human body measurements and determining appropriate clothing sizes based on those measurements. A field evaluation of the AMS was conducted at the Uniform Distribution Center, Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May, New Jersey, from May 2000 through November 2000. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the accuracy of the size prediction software, to assess the basic operation and hinctionality of the system, and to determine any potential for future use of the AMS by the Coast Guard. The accuracy of the AMS for the male initial issue items averaged 71% and is not good enough to recommend implementation with the current programming. Some improvements can be made with adjustments to the AMS size programming based on this test. The next step in preparing the AMS for operational use in the clothing issue process is to determine what adjustments need to be made to the sizing programming, and then make those changes in the system. Detailed, standard measurement definitions and procedure as well as detailed, standard fit criteria and procedures must also be established and documented. Cnce that is complete, another phase of testing should be done to validate the new programming and standard procedures.
