摘要

The primary objective of this thesis is the study of dynamic ductile failure of stainless steel welded plates under high rate loading conditions. We will be concerned with the mechanics of high rate viscoplastic flow and fracture behavior of heterogeneous weldinents. We will focus our attention on investigating the mechanical behavior of a superaustenitic AL6XN weld with a Nickel-based superalloy INCONEL-625 as the filler material. The experimental and computational tools developed as part of this in- vestigation are expected to be widely applicable to understanding the micromechanics of failure in other metallic systems.
