Professional Leadership Development Skills Training for the 21st Century

In response to quickly changing military environments in which leaders must face non-traditional missions, the military has recognized the need for changes to leadership preparedness and training. This project sought to identify cognitive and non-cognitive leadership skills for which training is needed. A literature review was conducted to identify and select skills important to effective military leadership. Interviews were conducted with military officers who are experts in the topic of leadership. A developmental model of leadership was developed and a study of leadership skills was conducted.
