Epigenetic Approach to Breast Cancer Treatment

DNA methylation is an epigenetic process that leads to normal and dysfunctional gene regulation. The latter is a well-documented pathway to tumorigenesis, particularly for certain tumors, such as those involved in breast cancer. We have identified several inhibitors of the mammalian DNA cytosine methyltransferase, and are trying to determine if such compounds are suitable for further development as cancer therapies.
