Final Environmental Assessment for Proposed Construction Projects for the 140th Wing, Colorado Air National Guard at Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado.

The 140th Wing (140 WG) of the Colorado Air National Guard (ANG) has initiated a construction planning program at Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado. Implementing the Proposed Action would involve modification, construction, relocation, demolition, and operation of select structures on the base to accommodate the mission assigned to the 140 WG and Buckley Air Force Base. The Proposed Action is comprised of the following eight facility elements: Civil Engineering (CE) Complex; Alert Shelters and Alert Crew Quarters; High-Speed Taxiway and Warm-Up/Holding Pad; Fire Training Crash Rescue Facility; Weapons Load Training Complex; Weapons Release Complex; East Parking Apron; and Approach Lighting for Runway 14. The Proposed Action is required for the successful completion of the alert mission for Buckley Air Force Base. This Environmental Assessment (EA) evaluates the potential environmental impacts from implementing the Proposed Action. The EA has been prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act to analyze the potential environmental consequences of the Proposed Action. Under the No Action Alternative, no construction, modification, relocation, demolition, or operation of elements of the Proposed Action would occur. The environmental resources evaluated for the Proposed Action include: air quality, land use, transportation, biological resources, cultural resources, environmental justice, socioeconomics, geology, soils and topography, water resources, solid and hazardous materials and waste, noise, ordnance, utilities, safety and pollution prevention.
