Multi-Scale In Time Projectile-Target HPC Simulations for Lethality and Survivability

The Objective Force concept requires technology advantage over the adversaries to design, develop, model and simulate weapon systems that are strategically responsive, deployable, agile, versatile, lethal and survivable. As the Army transforms there is a renewed interest in the concept designs of new projectile-target weapons systems. As the modular systems are developed, optimized and ultimately integrated into the continuously evolving FCS, there is a critical need for next generation state-of-the-art computer modeling and simulation tools. In addition, there is also a critical need for a single, validated, maintainable high performance computing (HPC) code which captures the physics of short term dynamic events to drastically reduce simulation times. In this paper, we present a new and advanced HPC based multi-scale in time projectile-target simulation environment for lethality and survivability that is useful for FCS design concepts. Illustrative examples are considered that demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed approach.
