Department of Defense Youth Poll Wave 10 - December 2005. Overview Report

The Department of Defense (DoD) conducts Youth Polls twice a year to measure youth's perceptions of the military and propensity to enlist in the military. This report details the findings of the December 2006 Youth Poll. The primary focus of the poll was to measure the likelihood of youth ages 16-21 to join the military and to identify the factors that affect this propensity (including youths' attitudes and views on the military, the influences adults have on youths' attitudes, youths' attitudes toward current events and their confidence in successfully performing military-related duties). In addition, this Youth Poll measured youth's favorability toward and perceived knowledge of the military, perceptions of current economic conditions and reactions to current events.
