This ONR YIP award has significantly helped the PI to establish his research group and develop his career. Major achievement includes students training and research accomplishments. Seven Ph.D students and seven M.S. students have been supported by this ONR YIP project. Of these 14 Ph.D/M.S. students, 5 Ph.D students and 5 M.S. students are women. In this YIP project, we have systematically studied radar sensor networks and generic wireless sensor network, which include waveform diversity and automatic target recognition (ATR) in radar sensor networks, energy efficient self-organization, energy efficient MAC layer protocol design, sensor placement and deployment, cross layer design, event detection and forecasting, information integration for threat assessment, sensor network testbed, and other topics. More than 70 papers have been produced during this project and are attached to this final technical report.
