The High Surface Area Solid Phase Microextraction 'HSA-SPME' device is an internally heated sampling device designed for high-volume, trace level air sampling. This study compared the analyte extraction and durability of five different HSA-SPME geometric configurations at two sample flow rates. Each HSA- SPME configuration was tested for its ability to extract a 10 ppbv 39-component gas mixture and thermally desorb into an analytical instrument. Differences in analyte recovery between the five HSA-SPME geometries were not significant. The lower sample flow rate (0.1 Lpm) yielded higher analyte recoveries compared to the higher flow rate of 4 Lpm.
