摘要

The Navy administers tests throughout a Sailor's career. One key test is the Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT), the in-service version of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). This test covers a wide range of topics and results may be used to qualify for a different rating. Traditionally, the AFCT is paper-based, even though the ASVAB is now computer- based. The current study compared paper-based results of the AFCT to those obtained through an internet environment. Six-hundred eighty-nine Sailors at the Navy Training Command took the paper-based version of the AFCT. Another 762 Sailors took the web-based version. Standard scores were computed for each subtest, using the 1997 ASVAB normative scale. Results show that paper scores tended to be slightly higher, noticeably so for the Paragraph Comprehension and the Assembling Objects subtests.
