Future of Integrated Supply Chain Management Utilizing Performance Based Logistics; Journal article

Current logistics concepts yield predictive, linear supply chains that operate in traditional, hierarchical command and control structures. Current efforts to modernize logistics focus on increasing system efficiency, reducing mobility footprint, implementing Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) strategies, and creating a transactional data-sharing environment. Logistics support in a transformed military will require prioritized support at the point of effect, with a streamlined end-to-end process back to the source of supply to satisfy the full range of military operations. Sense and Respond Logistics and PBL strategies hold great promise to reengineer the Navy's supply chain process and provide improved, cost-effective support to the warfighter.
