This report results from a contract tasking G.V Kurdyumov Institute for Metal Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as follows: Proposed project is dedicated to development of physical background of Local Rapid Heat Treatment (LRHT) of titanium parts, which allowed to improve a balance of its mechanical properties (tensile and fatigue). Employing three different commercial titanium alloys as program material research work will consist of two main efforts. The first effort will be a detailed study of dependencies between LRHT regimes (employing testing specimens), obtained 3-D microstructural conditions, and their mechanical properties. The second effort will include checking the applicability of the developed approach for use with real parts, taking as an example titanium compressor blade. As a final result LRHT/microstructure/ properties/maps could be developed for selected titanium alloys.
