摘要

The main goals for the work were (a) theoretical extraction of microresonator design parameters and specifications enabling the generation of Kerr combs in the mid-infrared (mid-IR) wavelength region and (b) demonstration of a mid-IR Kerr comb obtained by pumping a whispering gallery mode microresonator with a 4.5um quantum cascade laser (QCL), which amounts to the longest-wavelength Kerr comb to date and first to access the molecular fingerprint region of the optical spectrum, a critical enabler for a wide range of new military and civilian chemo/bio sensing applications.
