The report describes the present status of the collapsible elasto-plastic deformation model, and compares results obtained by the model with those obtained by analytical methods for several different structures subjected to blast loading. In general, the agreement was satisfactory. A method of scaling, which is more flexible than that developed previously, is also presented. This approach allows one to investigate structures of different rigidity without installing different springs or changing the blast loading system. For greatest flexibility, it eliminates the possibility of simulating the force of gravity and the blast pressure on the roof. This is no great disadvantage, however, since the structure would be quite stiff in this case and deflections would be relatively small. The effect of structural features such as shear walls, column buckling, and structural continuity on model results are discussed. (Author)
