INVESTIGATIONS ON THE FLOW THROUGH PLAIN CYLINDRICAL ORIFICES AT LOW REYNOLDS NUMBERS

In connection with the design of hydraulic servomechanisms, there is a need for information on the flow characteristics of small orifices at low Reynolds numbers.nThe present report gives an account of tests on circular section orifices having a sharp upstream edge and appreciable length compared with their diameter.nA correlation has been found to enable the prediction of the discharge coefficient of a sharp edged orifice of any length when discharging into air.
