NOTE ON THE HEAD LOSSES IN MULTIPLE-BEND SYSTEMS

It is known that combinations of 90° bends in close proximity have smaller losses than the same number of bends taken separately, but the extent of the reduction is not known for all cases. In particular the problem of the optimum design of the siphons sometimes used in low head pumping schemes has not previously been investigated.
