TESTS ON THE FREEZING AND THAWING RESISTANCE ON CONCRETE KERBS

This interim report gives details of freezing and thawing tests on 27 commercially- and 12 laboratory-made concrete kerbs and relates frost damage to the results of the transverse strength and absorption tests given in B.S. 340:1950 "Precast Concrete Kerbs, Channels, Edgings and Quadrants".nThe tests show that the pressed kerbs were generally more resistant to frost damage than the kerbs compacted by vibration.
