GUIDE TO THE CALCULATION OF HEAD LOSSES IN PIPING SYSTEMS

The aim of Part I of this guide is to outline the basis of the Colebrook- White transition formula. which has been shown by numerous experiments to be applicable to any commercial pipe and any fluid. At the same time this formula does not suffer from the range limitations found with other empirical formulae.nPart II gives a summary of the losses in pipe fittings based on the published results of experimental work. The information is intended for use in estimation of losses in the average practical pipe system, and no particular fitting is discussed in great detail. Where it is particularly important to know the exact characteristics of a fitting reference should be made to the original literature.
