Measurement of Acoustic Power Radiated from Underwater Sound Transducers.

Two methods for the measurement of radiated acoustic power of underwater sound transducers are described. The advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of each method are discussed. One method requires measurements of the sound pressure at one point in the medium and the directivity index of the transducer while it is radiating into a free field or a large medium. The second method requires measurement of the electrical impedance of the transducer under loaded and unloaded conditions. Typical data are presented. (Author)
