AN ANALYSIS OP THE EFFECTS OF SOME OF THE FACTORS INVOLVED IN MAKING AND TESTING SOIL-CEMENT CYLINDERS

This report gives results of investigations concerning some of the factors that may affect the results obtained from compressive strength tests on soil-cement cylinders. Variations in results due to the soil itself were minimized by using a clean blended sand.nSix factors were investigated in two separate experi¬ments each involving four factors;the first experiment was designed to show any effects due to:nchanging the operator who weighed the mixed soil-cement, filled the cylinder mould with it, and rodded it;nvariation between cylinder moulds of the same age, design and manufacture;nchanging the operator who compacted the soil-cement in the moulds, ejected the cylinder and coated it with wax;nvariation between two types of testing machine commonly used for soil-cement testing at the Cement and Concrete Association's Research Laboratories.
