The transmission of power in the form of vibrations through a liquid is considered, and compared with similar transmission through concrete. It is shown from experimental results that whereas in a liquid the power that can be transmitted per unit area is limited by the density and elastic capacity, which are constants, in concrete the elastic capacity is related to the air content so that the power de¬creases to a constant minimum as the air is expelled. The expulsion of air takes place very rapidly in the concrete in contact with a vibrator so that the power that can be transmitted is limited by the effective area of contact and tends therefore to become constant.
