A METHOD OF CALCULATING THE FUNDAMENTAL PROPERTIES OF BEAMS OF VARYING- SECTION, SUITABLE FOE USE ON AN ELECTRONIC DIGITAL COMPUTER

The paper describes the method of calculating the influence coefficients, carry-over factors, and fixed end moments for beams of varying section and indicates how this method can be applied to an electronic digital computer. A programme has been prepared for the Ferramti Pegasus Computer which will carry out the necessary arithmetical operations involved in the calculation and print the results. This programme is not given in detail but a specification for it and an example of its use are given in an Appendix.
