A type of bridge has been analysed that is suitable for medium right spans in the range from 20 to 60 ft and possesses good distribution characteristics which enable it to sustain both the Ministry of Transport standard and abnormal loading. The bridge is essentially a cellular construction employing pre¬cast prestressed inverted T-beams, precast diaphragms, and a top slab precast or cast in situ.nThe proposed arrangement lends itself to the manufacture and stockpiling of units in a factory, -where a high degree of control of the concrete can be obtained. The bridge units may be manufactured for specific spans and hence for any particular bridge it would only be necessary for the designer to select the appropriate number of units for the span and width required.
