摘要

A total of thirty dives were made in the Arctic Ocean and Chukchi Sea: twenty-eight to bottom on the shelf between Point Barrow and the Bering Straits, and two in and around ice floes in the Arctic Ocean. The sea floor was examined and photographed, bottom-sediment and biological samples were collected, visibility was noted, and water currents on the bottom were measured. Wearing foam Neoprene wet suits 1/4 inch thick, SCUBA divers performed nearly as easily as divers in warmer waters. (Author)
