Measurements on Heat Effects Accompanying the Wet Carbonization of Peat in the Temperature Range 20 to 220 Degrees C

The measurements must be extended to 200-220° C and the rate of heating should be as fast as possible. Further, it seems fairly well established that different kinds of peat behave differently during the heat-treatment. It is therefore desirable to measure the same kinds of peat which are considered as raw materials in an industrial wet-carbonization process and also to characterize the samples botanically as well as from the standpoint of degree of humiliation.nThese considerations governed the decision to undertake a calorimetric study of the process under conditions closely similar to those under which AB Svensk Torvforadling will operate a plant under construction.
