Tests made on a one-sixth scale model of a hyperbolic paraboloid umbrella shell roof have given data from which the deflexions, of the edge beams and the tensile force acting in them have been calculated.nThe maximum stresses which occurred in the shell mem¬branes when subjected to a simulated uniformly distributed load were also deduced.nIt is estimated that, when the structure is subjected to the worst combination of probable design loads the maximum deflexion of the edge members will be approx¬imately 2.5 in.
