COMMUNICATION VIA ARTIFICIAL SCATTERS PLACED BELOW THE IONOSPHERE

The proposed program includes development of techniques for release and inflation of the scattering system from a small rocket and the conduc¬tion of field tests for verification of the theoretical and laboratory work on scatterers performed on this contract.nThis study is to some extent incomplete in that a portion of the pro-posed study was not funded. The unfunded portion of the study was to be an investigation of scatterers whose electrical scatter cross section is large compared to their mechanical cross section. Results of such a study might naturally change our present views.
